Friendship

"One measure of friendship consists
not in the number of things friends can discuss,
but in the number of things
they need no longer mention."

Caroling

Philippine Christmas is not complete without music and this season is celebrated by Filipinos through caroling. In the rural areas a group of carolers visit houses to sing Christmas songs.
When I was a kid, in our neighborhood, a group in my age were formed together as amateur carolers and visit houses every night. We were more than happy to receive coins or candies as reward for singing Christmas songs. We sang even out of tune, and were creative in using tin cans, plastic containers, and bamboos as our musical instruments. It isthe fun of doing it that mattters, out of tune or not!

Pilipinas I'll be there

Mentally am preparing my short visit to my native land Pilipinas and typical me the more I think about it the more impatient I become, yet one more month of waiting. :-(

It's been a while, this is my longest time of waiting to go back home in the Pilipinas. Since my parents left in this physical world I lost interest of going back. But then I come to think that I should go back to check if everythings alright with my siblings who are younger than me. As the eldest of the family I always have the feelings of responsibility for them.
.....hahay, it's not an easy life oftentimes in this kind of culture...

I feel divided in two, half of my life I stay here in Scandinavia and became almost a scandinav at the same time my roots and my upbringing always waking me up to care for the people I left behind at home back in the Phils. when each one of us has our own lives. WHY is this feelings???Do they care for me as much as I care for them?? I do not know. Is this feeling just an ego to fill up the emptiness I have here in the part of the world? I wonder.

So bored

bow....amen!
there's no place like home in the Phils.

Winter

Wintertime, advent and soon christmas time.
Most of the houses and the sorroundings are decorated with lights we call christmas lights.
People are busy preparing all the stuffs for christmas from cookies to glögg, all the gifts getting distributed to everyone. All the christmas cards to be sent to all the relatives and so called friends to far and near you are not even in touch to them the rest of the year. Isn't it strange?

I was born christian and christmas has been a part of my tradition though I am not so fanatic nor fun of it. I celebrated it cause I've been carried by the masses and did not know any other than this. I liked the way we celebrate christmas at home in the Philippines where people attend mass every dawn in our parish church about 5 kms away.

Right now, I am fantacising how it was before during my time back at home in the Philippines.
Even if I am not a believer, I still prefer the way we celebrate christmas in the Phils. rather than celebrating it here where Donald Duck cartoon film has been the midpoint of the christmas eve, it makes no sense.
